Lily Allen left me smiling.. but hurt.
The moment i had been anticipating for months: Lily Allen was coming to Amsterdam again! I had been excited about it for a long time, and couldn’t wait for October 25th to come. Like you all know i made a fanbook for Lily, which i wanted to give to her that day.
We arrived at the Heineken Music Hall around 1 PM, when we spotted Lily’s tourbus next to the venue. There were 4 of us, and we decided to wait there, ’cause that was probably the place where we had the most chance of running into her. Around 2:30 PM, we saw a guy walk into the tourbus, so when he came out i asked him when she would be out. He said that Lily was out but she would be back around 4:30 PM. So we kept waiting. Finally, we spotted Lily walking towards the entrance. So naturally, i walked towards her trying to hand her the fanbook. Right off the bat, one security guy walked up to us and said that we had to stop there. When i tried to reach out and say: “Lily, i just wanna give this to you!” she kept walking, and said: “Im sorry, i have to go in!”. She never even looked at us once, and she looked really bothered by the fact that we were there. I understand that because she was late that she had to go to soundcheck or whatever, but it probably wouldn’t even have taken her 10 seconds to just accept the book. So, ofcourse i was upset that i wasn’t able to give her the fanbook.
We returned back to the front of the venue around 5 PM, where we waited ’till 6:30 PM for the doors to open. We were standing front row where the view was awesome. Then this DJ came out who REALLY sucked (just FYI), and we had to wait until 9:15 PM for Lily to come out. Lily started her concert with Everyone’s At It, and right from the start it was absolutely AMAZING. She looked better then she ever did before, and even though she had some vocal problems, her voice was impeccable. She even added some fan favorites to the setlist which included Kabul Shit, Knock ‘Em Out and Naive. I absolutely loved every second of it, and i was shouting along all the words to the song. Then came the encore, which included Not Fair, Womanizer and Fuck You. And i still had the fanbook, which i was determined to get to her. So i rolled up the book, tied a scrunchie around it and waited for the right moment to throw it out there. During Womanizer, she was standing right in front of me, so i threw the book out ON the stage, next to a speaker. She must have known the book was there, cause it was right in her walking path. She didn’t take the book with her, and at one point even (accidentally, i think) stepped on it. She closed the show with Fuck You, which was ofcourse fucking amazing, but i still i was bit upset about the fact she didn’t have the book.
The whole point of this book was to give Lily a suprise from her fans. No other fansite has done it for her, and it contained dozens of messages from people all around the world who just adore her. It was supposed to be something that would make her smile, but she never even looked at it once.
I don’t know if the crew even gave her the book or not when they started packing up. I would really like to know, to see if she got the book after all. So Lily, if you’re reading this, please send me an email at OhLilyCom@gmail.com, a tweet at OhLilyDotCom, or post something ANYWHERE to let me know you got the book. It would make me a feel so much better to know that the hard work i’ve put into the book didn’t go to waste.
Ofcourse, i’m still a huge fan, and the show she put on was ABSOLUTELY fenomenal. It was just a bummer i didn’t get to give it to her personally.
I wanna thank everyone who sent in their messages for their amazing effort, without you i never would’ve been able to put the book together. If you have any reactions about this, send me an email at OhLilyCom@gmail.com.
Love you all!
